In this time of working from home, flexible working hours, and project working, the group of people you need to cooperate with can change frequently. This means that you have to learn how to convert a group into a team every time. Cooperating is not something that occurs; you have to work at it.
Team building is one of the best ways to transform a group of people into an actual team. But when and how do you do that? That is why I am providing you with these five tips for team building.
tip 1: when do we work at team building?
Any change means that the relationships or things that are considered self-evident within the team must be redefined or determined. Changes can include a new workplace/work location, the reallocation of tasks, someone leaving the group, or (last but not least) a new member joining the group.
Especially the latter (a new addition) is often quickly forgotten. Statements like 'ah well, they will get the hang of it' or 'the group will welcome them' are easily uttered. But nothing could be further from the truth!
Each group has its habits and methods, and these are also sensitive to change. This means that in case of change, you will need to look at the habits and methods within your group. Holding meetings about it is pointless; conscious cooperation does not require talking to clarify this situation. So, start team building!
